Why Have Banks Been so Difficult in Granting Loan Modifications?

By nick on December 8th, 2011

Mortgage modification is one of the most widely sought-after methods of avoiding foreclosure. The concept is that the debtor attempts to change the terms of the original mortgage with the bank in order to reduce the monthly bill amount to the point that the borrower can again meet the payment on a continuing basis.

Refinance foreclosure

The negative side of home mortgage modification is that in recent years, the regulators have not had very detailed regulations specifying how mortgage companies and credit agencies could report a mortgage modification in a homeowner’s credit score.

Foreclosure process

Very likely, lenders will take into consideration how a person has utilized credit up until the default that required their loan modification in the first place, as well as how he or she manages debt payments after being given the modification.
