However, sometimes it is not enough to listen to a good song with a hyper-technological device to feel some emotions: sometimes the emotions that music can convey are also linked to the record cover, to the memory of the little shop where you bought it and of the happiness that you felt while holding it for the first time. Does it seem to be exaggerated? It is certain that nowadays, thanks to new technological devices, it is possible to listen in an easier way to any kind of music and artist, even when you cannot find it in a shop, but sometimes listening to concrete music inside a CD or a record permits you to reawaken old memories and emotions at any time and in a more effective way.
This is the idea that characterises Vinilmania, the International CD and Record Fair which takes place three times a year in the Parco Esposizioni di Novegro, in Milan. Realised for the first time in 1986, Vinilmania is the first (and the most important) fair dedicated to music collecting in Italy, and it has become an unmissable event for all collectors and music lovers, who go to Milan to find in the 300 stalls good pieces to enrich their collections. The fair is a great international attraction: around 35% of exhibitors comes from abroad, in particular from the UK, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, France, United States and Japan, and some of the 6000 visitors attracted by each edition of the fair are foreigners. An evidence of this event being successful is also given by the fact that every year Milan hosts three editions of the fair (in February, May and October), and this has permitted record hunters to establish a special relationships with exhibitors. Apart from collectors (75% of visitors), who in the fair can find rare CD, records and singles, but also memorabilia, books and magazines, Vinilmania also attracts the music passionate, as well as nostalgic people who, walking through the stalls, succeed in immersing themselves in the past and in the emotions that only music can reawaken.
However, Vinilmania is not only an exhibitory space, but also a cauldron containing many interesting cultural and music events: the fair, indeed, hosts concerts of both emerging bands and established artists, as well as debates, books presentations and meetings with authors (and this is possible thanks to the collaboration with Il Libraccio, an important new and second-hand records and books chain), which make Vinilmania the ideal event for all those who love music in all its forms. To permit all visitors to be well-informed about the events that take place during the fair, to have the list and position of all exhibitors, but also to keep them up-to-date with the world of records collecting, the Vinilmania magazine will be handed out to all visitors, with a 8000 copies run.
